Lawrence "Larry" Taylor serves as a Senior Advisor to StoneCastle Securities and its Private Credit Trading team. A former head of research, Larry brings valuable perspective and strategic insight drawn from his years helping to build and lead the firm's trading activities. His deep familiarity with the business, combined with his analytical background and longstanding industry relationships, make him a trusted counsel to the team.

Prior to joining StoneCastle, Mr. Taylor spent nearly 15 years in credit research at Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he served as a Managing Director and Associate Research Director of the firm’s Leveraged Finance research organization. Earlier in his career, he worked at MetLife in the company’s private placement group, and he also managed investment portfolios for external clients.

Over his career as a research analyst, Mr. Taylor covered a wide range of sectors across investment grade, high yield, and structured securities. He was recognized by Institutional Investor magazine 24 times as a ranked analyst, including 11 #1 rankings, and was later named one of the top ten most recognized analysts of all time in the publication’s 20-year retrospective of its All-America Fixed Income Research Team.

Mr. Taylor co-founded the business at StoneCastle Securities in 2010 alongside Mr. Best.

Mr. Taylor earned a BA in Economics from Haverford College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized as a Palmer Scholar. He is also a CFA charter holder.
